Coco Warner ReportingWhether you are the person who's ending a relationship, or on the other end of that decision, breaking up is hard to do.

So, what can you do to help yourself get over someone? Ask anyone who's been through a bad break-up-- you wish there was a quick and easy solution. But most people will tell you-- including the experts-- it just takes time.

"Friends"/Warner Bros. Television: "Look, maybe we should just take a break." "Okay, fine. You're right. Let's take a break. Let's cool off. Let's get some frozen yogurt or something!" "No, a break from us."

Whether you're on a break, or truly ending a relationship, breaking up is hard. How hard can depend on whether you are the dumper or dumpee, and how it's done.

Angela Monson: "Bad break ups-- I've done the email or leave a letter on the doorstep because I was horrible at confrontation."

Ian Gribble: "Love can always wear a little thin after a given time. I myself was married for 30 odd years, and we've journeyed off to our other paths."

Coco Warner/Eyewitness News: "And if you're going through a break up, there's plenty of advice over the internet. Google alone has millions of sites dedicated to helping you move on."

Suggestions range from the practical to the humorous. Several websites even offer tips on how to win back your beloved.

AM 820's Dr. Liz Hale says it may sound like a cliche, but time heals all wounds.

Dr. Liz Hale/AM 820: "In the situation of loss, either with death or divorce, it just takes time and there's no substitute for it. Just make sure you're ready."

Ian Gribble: "I think take it a day as it comes and calm thingd down. Don't blow things out of proportion, and steady as you go."

Dr. Liz Hale also says there's no such thing as a good divorce, especially if children are involved-- and if people are married they should do everything they can to avoid that outcome. Still, it's a choice that affects about 45 percent of all first marriages in America. Coming up tomorrow, I'll take a closer look at divorce mediation.
