My Mom always taught me not to judge a book by it’s cover. So, it’s obvious to see why it’s taken me three weeks to finally get a grasp of who exactly our Italian drivers are. Actually I had a pretty good idea after a few days... but it’s been reaffirmed just this week. Corrado is the father figure of the group. He’s 37 years old, is married and has a little one year old girl. He seems to know everything about... everything. He knows where everything is... and how to get there. He knows a lot about Torino’s history and can answer just about any question you throw at him. Vasco is directionally challenged. Apparently he’s lived in Torino all his life, but doesn’t really know where he’s going. In fact it took him two weeks to finally figure out how to get from our workspace to where we sleep. In fact, he joyously bellowed his surprising feat as though he had just won the lottery. He once tried to take a round about way to get home, trying to avoid a crowded downtown. Instead, he ended up taking half our crew to who knows where... then turned to Samantha for help. Uh... where’s the map? Diego is the adventurer. This kid has been everywhere and he’s only 22. Let me explain. He spent a month in the U.S. hanging out in Florida... then crashing parties in California. Oh, and he didn’t tell his mom until three days before he left. He travelled through the middle east and Asia, picking up girls and a Vespa in India. Now he’s getting set to spend six months in South America and he still hasn’t told his mom he’s going. Best part is... he’s only 22 and he’s paid for all his trips. Lorenzo is the party animal. This kid has never seen or heard of a party that he didn’t want to be at. He requested to be Samantha and Adam’s chauffeur when they did the night life story... and had a girl’s number in less than 10 minutes after arriving. The kid works fast. All four speak English well making life a lot easier on us. It would have been very difficult if we had communication problems with our drivers. I do have to say they were a very crucial part of work here. Oh, and if any of you young ladies are interested... Lorenzo wants your number...
