11 more indicted in Southern Utah marijuana growing operation

SALT LAKE CITY — Eleven more men were charged in U.S. District Court on Wednesday in connection with the raid last month of a massive marijuana growing operation near St. George.

Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies descended on the site July 16, arresting 37 individuals and removing more than 13,000 marijuana plants.

The new federal indictment brings the total number charged to 32. They face counts of conspiracy, manufacturing a controlled substance by cultivation, and possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

The additional defendants are Huber Avalos-Segundo,18; Ramiro Jose-Quiroz, 20; Felix Rojas-Ramirez, 30; Lorenzo Villasenor-Aguilar; Alfredo Lozano-Benitez, 40; Rodrigo Arellano-Gurrola, 30; Eduardo Gonzalez-Dias, 25; Paulino Hernandez-Brito, 34; Alfonso Perez-Serratio, 30; Jorge Soto-Ceballos, 47, and Eustolio Soto-Ortiz, age 20.
