TAYLORSVILLE — When Brittany Schoenrock lost a memory card three weeks ago while dining at the Texas Roadhouse in Taylorsville, she thought the record of those memories was gone forever.

But a little girl found it, and she, along with a Facebook page, were able to reunite the SD card and its owner.

The Childs family was dining at the restaurant when 8-year-old Jaspin Childs found the card between the chairs in the booth Saturday.

"I got a feeling that I should probably look in between the two cushions in the couches," she said. "I felt something in there, and I picked it up, and I saw a card."

The memory card included photos and videos of personal family events, like a 50th wedding anniversary and a young man opening his mission call.

The family thought about turning it over to the restaurant managers, but said there were so many people that day that they thought they would take it home first and see what was on it. When they saw what was on it, they were amazed and overwhelmed.

"There was a lot of precious things on there like a 50th wedding anniversary and some videos that had almost seemed like a video dairy log," Scott Childs said. "There was even a missionary that had received his mission papers and opening it with his family."

Scott Childs called KSL to see if it could get the word out about the memory card and see if it could help find the owner. KSL Newsradio's The Browser posted a picture on Facebook, reaching out to listeners and found the owner in just 15 minutes.

"I am definitely the girl in the pictures," Schoenrock told the show. "I figured it was lost so I wouldn't be able to find it."

And about an hour later, the card was returned.

Turns out the missionary in the video is Elder Sheldon DeVries. He's been in the field in Denver for about nine months now.

"He's my best friend," Schoenrock said. "We don't have like a commitment, but you know, if he gets back, maybe there will be something more out of it."

She said she's glad to have the files back, many of them pictures and videos of her best friend.

Elder DeVries' mom, Linda, was glad too. "(These are) some sweet memories that are now kept and not lost."

All thanks to one family looking out for another, even though they'd never met.

"I have five kids, and there's a lot of precious memories that we take, and had there been something like that … I would have been devastated," Scott Childs said.

Schoenrock figured the card was dropped at the restaurant, but didn't think she'd ever get it back.

"I thought she was really happy, and I just felt so good that I just hugged my dad," Jaspin said.
