(KSL News) -- A loose moose caused quite a commotion today in an Avenues neighborhood near J Street & 9th Ave.

The moose was too dangerous to try and tranquilize it in the dark last night, so crews went out this morning to get things under control.

Wildlife officials say the moose likely came from a nearby canyon. It weighs about 800 pounds.

The moose seemed calm at first but soon became agitated. Neighbors were not worried though.

Richard Martinez, Neighbor: "I was just jogging.. saw it. My wife was just standing there watching it so I just stopped and saw it. It was pretty crazy"

Earl Miller, Neighbor: "I think everybody liked it... sas kind of excited about it. Everybody has been taking pictures... Pretty fun."

The moose will be taken to Colorado as part of a special exchange program between the two States. We send them moose, they send us bighorn sheep.
