(KSL News) It could soon be illegal to light up at any park in West Valley City.

The city council is considering a move that would ban smoking at all city-owned parks and recreational areas. But it would be allowed at the city's two golf courses because there are only four players at each hole.

Breaking the ban could result in a $1,000 fine.

The council says a public hearing should be held before any decisions are made.
