IS it a shadow, or something a little more embarrassing? Randy writer Jonathan Ames is seeking to solve the mystery surrounding the photo of himself in his boxer shorts on the cover of his new book, "I Love You More Than You Know," with an online poll. Ames writes on his Web site, "It's unclear whether my testicle or my liver is hanging out of my boxer shorts, or whether it's just an odd shadow. The world seems to be divided between those who think it's my testicle and those who think it's a shadow." While we're not sure that it's become the subject of worldwide debate (although it's been addressed in Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger), those who care to take sides can e-mail jonathanames2@aol.com. In 2003, the sex-obsessed former New York Press columnist held a "Most Phallic Building in the World" poll after his assertion on slate.com that Brooklyn's Williamsburg Bank Building was worthy of that title was met with a deluge of angry e-mails. The eventual winner of the dubious honor was the water tower in Ypsilanti, Mich., a k a the "Brick D - - k."
