Alex Cabrero ReportingThere's still time to get your sweety something for Valentines, but if you want some popular chocolates, it's going to take time to get them.
It gets so busy at Cummings Chocolates that a Salt Lake police officer has to be there just to direct traffic. Inside Cummings, it's even crazier. There are two lines, one if you want those popular chocolate dipped strawberries, another if you just want boxed chocolates.
No matter which line you want, though, you're still going to wait a few minutes. Sometimes that wait could be a half hour, but customers say it's worth it. Waiting for those chocolate-covered strawberries has sort of become a tradition here at Cummings, and customers know it pays to arrive bright and early, so do workers.
Ruth Morgan, Cummings Worker: "We started this morning at quarter to eight. We were going to open at eight o'clock, but we had lines in, out, and round about the front door."
Mark Fenton, Buying for his Girlfriend: "Yeah, it goes back and forth back there, and Idon't know,I guess it's worth it when you see a smile on their face."
Joe Goodman, Buying for his Wife: "At least, hey, when they got a cop in the parking lot directing traffic, you know it's going to be a crowd. So, but it's good, so Valentine's once a year, what the heck, so."
That's the spirit. She's worth something once a year, right? Of course, that 30 minute wait might turn into something a lot longer when we start pushing rush hour. Then again, there's no wait at the gas station to buy a Kit Kat. Just know what you're getting into.
