SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A TRAX station planned near The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City may soon be up and running.
The first of two light-rail stations is expected to be operating by the end of 2007. However, Utah Transit Authority doesn't have an opening date for the second station.
The two stations will bridge the end of the current line at South Temple and 400 West and the transit Intermodal Hub at 200 South and 600 West.
The cost to construct the point-nine-mile line and two stations is estimated between 30 and 33 (M)million dollars.
The city and U-T-A each plan to pay 28 percent of the cost, or eight-point-five (M)million dollars. The remaining part is expected to come from federal sources.
Construction on the station could start as soon as mid-July.
