Coco Warner Reporting It's early enough in the morning that there's still time for you procrastinators out there to buy a gift for your Valentine. Because nothing says love quite like a box of chocolates or maybe a diamond ring, right?

Today we're talking about the cost of love.

It can be easy to get caught up in the consumerism of a day like today-- like, just how many boxes of chocolate or red roses are sold every Valentine's Day? We'll get to that-- but, what other gifts are people giving their sweethearts this year?

If only Valentine's Day could be funny-- but sometimes the pressure of finding the perfect gift is overwhelming. Jewelry is always nice.

Jessica Volpe/Fortier Jewelers: "EVERY LADY LOVES JEWELRY AND I HAVE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS WHO SAY, OH, MY WIFE DOESN'T WEAR A LOT. AND I SAY THAT'S BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T PROBABLY HAVE A LOT."

Fortier Jewelers say this year, their stackable rings are popular. Heart-shaped jewels go over well-- and nothing makes Valentine's Day more romantic than a wedding proposal!

Jessica Volpe/Fortier Jewelers: "AND REALLY, THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT STYLES OUT THERE-- NO MATTER WHAT HER STYLE IS-- YOU CAN GET A MORE MODERN PIECE, ANTIQUE PIECE -- THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY."

But that something can cost you hundreds of dollars-- if you have a tighter budget-- any local flower shop should be able to help.

Mike Glauser/Speaking Roses: "WE HAVE A FULL RANGE OF GIFTS IN EVERY PRICE RANGE-- WE WANT SOMEONE TO BE ABLE TO COME IN AND BE ABLE TO BUY SOMETHING NICE FOR 5 TO 10 DOLLARS."

Coco Warner/Eyewitness News:"SPEAKING ROSES OFFERS 3 STANDARD PHRASES FOR VALENTINE'S DAY-- BUT GIVEN ENOUGH NOTICE, THEY CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY ROSE FOR YOU."

Mike Glauser/Speaking Roses: "CHOCOLATES THEN IS A NICE ADDITION-- EVERYONE LIKES CHOCOLATES AND THEY GO ALONG VERY COMPATIBLY WITH THE FLOWERS-- I THINK IT'S JUST OUR HISTORY-- A TRADITION IN OUR COUNTRY."

More tradition? More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of choclate are sold for Valentine's Day. 110 million roses, the majority red... And 1 billion cards exchanged...

But while gifts are nice, psychologist Liz Hale says it's more important to honor your primary relationship every day of the year.

Dr. Liz Hale/Psychologist, 820 AM: "I THINK IT'S GREAT THAT WE HAVE THESE HOLIDAYS, BECAUSE SOMETIMES WITHOUT THEM-- THE MOTIVATIONS OF A HOLIDAY-- LIKE CHRISTMAS OR VALENTINE'S DAY-- WE TEND TO BE LACKSIDAISICAL ABOUT CELEBRATING LOVE AND OUR RELATIONSHIPS."

And if you ask any mom-- hand-made cards and gifts are always nice. Sometimes, the thought really does count.

On Thursday-- we're going to the chapel-- and we're going to get married! We'll look at some Utah wedding trends.
