SAN DIEGO (AP) - Johnnie Bryant scored 19 points and Bryant Markson added 18 points and 11 rebounds as Utah snapped San Diego State's eight-game winning streak with a 67-65 victory Saturday.
With the victory the Utes, who have won four of their last five, improved to 12-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
While Bryant and Markson shared most of the offensive load, it was guard Shaun Green who got the crucial basket. Green, who missed his first seven shots, drained a 3-pointer with 1:17 left putting Utah up five, 66-61. His basket came moments after John Sharper hit his own 3-pointer for San Diego State making it 63-61.
Brandon Heath led San Diego State (16-7, 9-2) with 20 points while Mohamed Abukar added 16. Utah, which trailed 35-34 early in the second half, went on a 17-4 run sparked by Bryant and took a 51-39 lead with 14 minutes to play. However, San Diego battled back behind Health and tied the game at 58 on a pair of free-throws by Abukar with 4:48 left.
