(KSL News) -- A historic downtown hotel gutted by fire last year will soon be turned into low-income housing.

It will cost more than 4-million dollars to renovate the Stratford Hotel on 200 south. More than 200-thousand dollars will come from the city of Salt Lake.

After the renovation, residents will have to meet low-income guidelines in order to rent an apartment. Several of the apartments will be reserved for people coming out of homelessness or living with HIV.
