(Photo credit: Utah DPS)COVE FORT — A Michigan motorcyclist died early Friday afternoon when his bike left the roadway as he traveled eastbound on I-70 near Cove Fort.
Earl W. Walker, age 61, of Waterford, Mich., suffered head trauma and other injuries and died enroute to the hospital, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The accident was the second fatality on Utah freeways as the Fourth of July weekend nears. Earlier, a St. George man died in a three-vehicle crash on I-15 near Parowan.
Walker was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred around 1:50 p.m. near milepost 7, according to the UHP. Troopers suspect the crash may have been the result of a preexisting medical condition. An autopsy will be performed.
