(KSL News) -- Police have captured a man who led them on a chase through several Utah cities this weekend.
An officer in Centerville attempted to pull over Blaine Carlson for a traffic violation yesterday.
Carlson took off as soon as the officer turned his lights on and the chase reached speeds of up to 80 miles an hour.
Police eventually found his car in Kaysville . They then spent several hours searching for him.
After police called off the search, an observant convenience store clerk spotted Carlson. The clerk became suspicious because he was just wandering around an not buying anything.
Police had contacted businesses warning them about Carlson and they say help from the public is invaluable.
Gary Litster, Centerville Police Dept.: "It's fabulous. I mean they're... We couldn't do our jobs half as well without them.. They're everything to us."
Carlson faces charges of felony evading, unlawful detention for keeping a female passenger in the car against her will and police found drug paraphernalia in the car.
Police also found a poncho, knives and other items on Carlson when they captured him... but they don't know where the items came from.
They're asking people in Kaysville to search their garages and homes to see if anything is missing.
