PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- About 175 skiers were rescued from a broken ski lift at Park City Mountain Resort on Friday.
A problem in a gear box halted the high-speed Bonanza lift, said resort spokeswoman Krista Parry. The resort's ski patrol used special harnesses and lines to lower the stranded skiers to the ground one at a time. No injuries were reported.
The rescuers "were real polite. Made you feel comfortable, safe," said Todd Wright, a skier from Nashville, Tenn.
It took about 1 1/2 hours to remove the skiers, Parry said.
The lift remained closed for the rest of the day, and Parry said the resort wasn't planning to open it Saturday.
