(KSL News)--The nation's longest serving U.S. attorney is stepping down, and he just happens to be a Utahn.

Paul Warner has served seven and a half years as the U.S. attorney for Utah. He was appointed by President Clinton in 1998, and was retained by President Bush.

He's been praised for his work in the Kiplyn Davis case-- the Spanish Fork teen who went missing more than a decade ago.

Warner plans to be appointed as a federal magistrate judge in Salt Lake City.
