SALT LAKE CITY — A mother whom police say "fought" with her 2-year-old daughter for up to two minutes was arrested Wednesday for investigation of intentional child abuse.
Brandie Trapier, 27, took her daughter to Primary Children's Medical Center Wednesday. Doctors found the child had an "orbital fracture" as well as "bruises on her head, neck, back and legs," according to Salt Lake County Jail records.
Trapier originally told police her daughter fell off a couch, jail records state. She later said she went in to check on the young girl who began "kicking and punching her," and then "fought" with her daughter on the floor for approximately two minutes, according to jail documents.
A check of Utah court records show Trapier filed for a protective order in 3rd District Court against a man in 2009.
