This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

How many times have you heard "You've got to go to college." This statement rings true now more than ever before. To support the changing job needs in the state, the State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Higher Education have a "big goal" for Utahns — 66 percent of men and women age 25 to 64 with a postsecondary degree or certificate by the year 2020. This is known as Prosperity 2020, a business-driven initiative.

Prosperity 2020 is intended to encourage educational opportunities for adults to help them get better jobs. While Utah already has a wealth of higher education institutes, including several that are top in the nation, more will likely be needed in order to fulfill the initiative. One of the newer players is Argosy University in Draper.

Campus president David Tietjen says Argosy is distinguished by being flexible, relevant and providing supported learning. The flexibility comes from a blended approach to education that's a combination of face-to-face classroom instruction and online studies. This works well for students, many of whom work full time while attending.

It's relevant in that many professors or faculty members are working in their chosen field of study so they can bring the latest thinking and experiences into the classroom. Students are supported in their learning by a faculty and staff who know their names, care about what they're going through and provide support.

David meets each prospective student personally to find out their goals to see if Argosy University is the best fit for them. He is always on the lookout for ways of adding value such as offering Friday and Saturday classes for government employees working four-day work weeks.

This regionally accredited university is the newest campus for Argosy, which has 19 locations around the United States. It's been in the current location just off I-15 for two and a half years. Argosy is the only university in the state to offer a Doctor of Business Administration, or DBA, in a classroom environment.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
