PROVO, Utah (AP) -- The Utah College of Massage Therapy has settled a lawsuit claiming it wasn't complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Under the agreement the schools will provide sign language interpreters and other aids as needed for its deaf students.
The deal was struck with the U.S. Department of Justice earlier this month after a federal review of the Salt Lake City-based massage therapy school. The review found the school was not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students at the school had complained that they met with resistance when they asked for an interpreter.
As part of the agreement, the school will also appoint an education manager for each of its campuses to work as an ADA coordinator.
