CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- The U.S. Forest Service says it's conducting a prescribed burn on about 200 acres of forest in the Haycock Mountain area of Utah's Dixie National Forest.

Cedar City District Ranger Veronica Magnuson say in a statement that fire managers expected to complete about one-third of an overall 600-acre burn area on Tuesday.

She says the fire near Utah Highway 143 and Panguitch Lake in Garfield County is intended to cut fire hazards by reducing high fuel buildups in aging timber stands.
