(KSL News) A Utah woman and her two daughters have given a priceless gift: their kidneys.
Cynthia Bowers and her two daughters, Alyson and Laura, are the first family in the United States to have three living organ donors. But they say setting records isn't why they did it.
Cynthia said, "As a mother, I couldn't help but say, ‘How could I let somebody lose their child if I could make a difference.'"
Lee Sosa, Cynthia's recipient, says they share a unique bond. He said, "I talked to her earlier and I said, ‘Do you crave chocolate?' And she said, 'Yeah, I do.' I said, ‘I've never liked chocolate, but all of a sudden I crave it.'"
Nationally there are more than 53,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant.
