DRAPER -- An inmate at the Utah State Prison stabbed another inmate multiple times Sunday.
According to Department of Corrections spokesman Steve Gehrke, the attack happened around 6:30 p.m. The victim was stabbed two to three times in his torso.
Gehrke said the victim was stabilized and treated at the prison infirmary before being transported to an area hospital as a precaution. The injured inmate was communicating with emergency personnel as he was leaving the prison.
Gehrke said an investigation into the incident was underway. Officials were trying to determine what type of weapon was used in the attack and how it was obtained.
