SANDY — Police are searching for three men who robbed a hotel at gunpoint and assaulted a clerk Friday night.
Around 10 p.m. three Polynesian men in their 20s — standing a little more than 6 feet tall and weighing between 230 to 270 pounds — confronted the clerk of the Extended Stay America hotel at 10715 S. Automall Dr., said Sandy Police Sgt. Alan Alexander.
A man with a shotgun struck the clerk's cheek with the butt of the gun, causing mild bruising, Alexander said. The men left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Because the hotel doesn't have surveillance cameras for its parking lot, police are trying to get footage of the men's vehicle from surveillance at nearby hotels, Alexander said.
Anyone with information that might aid police in the search for the robbers can call 801-840-4000.
