Accra (dpa) - U.S. First Lady Laura Bush will launch a textbooks and learning materials programme in Ghana during her forthcoming visit to the West African country starting Sunday.
Mrs. Bush will launch the programme in the capital Accra on Tuesday, when she is also expected to visit the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where she is expected to visit HIV/AIDS patients.
She will also pay a courtesy call on Ghana's President John Agekum Kufuor on Tuesday.
On Monday, she will interrupt her stay in Ghana by flying to Liberia to attend the presidential inauguration of Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf, but will then return to Ghana the same day.
Mrs Bush is to be accompanied by several University presidents when she unveils the programme that links minority-serving colleges in the U.S. with institutions in Africa to provide textbooks and school supplies for African students would speak on "teacher training and education".
After her stay in Ghana, Mrs Bush's visit to West Africa will then take her to Nigeria.
