A handful of Sonic Drive-In restaurants are taking part in test program called Sonic On the Go that allows customers to order remotely online or using their smartphones and have the food ready for pick-up at the eatery. The program is being tested by a the largest Sonic franchisee group, made up of 71 locations in five markets: Phoenix; Lubbock, TX; Rockford, IL; Chicago; and Augusta, GA.
Says the operations director for the franchisee group:
In addition to being a fantastic new technology, the service is cost effective, and all orders are prepaid and integrate into our merchant accounts. Our operators and principal partners participating in the test are very optimistic that we will capture new sales and profits by using the service.
