WEST VALLEY CITY -- A rollover accident in West Valley City killed a driver when he was thrown from his vehicle.
It happened in front of Hunter High School at 5600 West and 4500 South around 3 a.m.

Witnesses say a northbound vehicle slowly started to cross traffic lanes, drove onto the curb and hit a power pole. The vehicle flipped and the driver, 39-year-old driver, Shane Sherwin Smith, was ejected. The power pole was severed.
It's believed Smith was on his way home from his parents' house but authorities don't know what caused the crash, said West Valley Police Sgt. Chad Evans.
Evans said police don't know what caused the crash.
Rocky Mountain Power crews are on scene ready to fix the power line once police allow them to do that.
"From what I know right now, no one has lost any power," Evans said. "Lots of residents came out to see what happened. There were reports of a big explosion when the accident happened, but other than that, everyone still has power."
Granite School District says students are not expected at Hunter High today because of an end-of-term break.
