LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a plane crash at Long Beach Airport has killed five people and injured a sixth.
Long Beach fire spokesman Steve Yamamoto says all six were aboard the twin-engine Beechcraft Air King that crashed and burned during a takeoff at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
There's no word on the condition of the injured person.
Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was departing for Salt Lake City when it went down.
He says the plane was engulfed in flames.
The front half of the plane and its wings came to rest on a grass median between two runaways. The plane left a scorched trail dozens of feet long as it apparently plowed through the grass.
