COLOGNE, Germany, Jan 6, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Actress Sharon Stone Friday was named winner of the Cinema for Peace Award for Social Responsibility to be given during the Berlin Film Festival.

Stone will receive her award during the Cinema for Peace charity gala in Berlin Feb. 13, Daily Variety reported. Money raised during gala will go to UNICEF and the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

Cinema for Peace will also honor a 2005 film that exemplifies the association's ideals of "social engagement for more peace, tolerance and humanity in the world," Variety said.

The organization said it chose Stone as its inaugural honoree because of her humanitarian activities, including fundraising and campaigning for AIDS research.
