SALT LAKE CITY -- Your votes have been tallied and it's time to reveal what all of you chose as the best films and performances of 2010.

I asked all of you to send me your votes for the best picture, actor/actress, supporting actor/actress, director, screenplay original/adapted and score of the year. I decided it was time we had a say as to what was the best.

I loved all of your responses. What I've learned is that some of you tend to have varied tastes, but good tastes none the less. In the supporting actor/actress category I received more than 20 different names. All the names you'd expect to be, were on the list, but a few surprised me. Like the vote for [Pete Postlewaith](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000592/) in ["Inception."](http://inceptionmovie.warnerbros.com/dvd/) Postlewaith was a great actor who died earlier this year. He was not a household name, but he had an unforgettable mug. His part was very small in "Inception" but very effective. I personally thought he deserved a nomination for his supporting role in ["The Town."](http://thetownmovie.warnerbros.com/dvd/)

Another supporting nomination I got was for Chloe Moretz as the not so sweet daughter of Nicholas Cage in the movie "Kick-A**." I wouldn't have given her the award personally, but the girl can act and she was a lot of fun in that film.

I also loved the broad spectrum of votes for best actor/actress. First I found it interesting that many of you voted for Hailee Steinfeld of "True Grit" in this category. I thought she was fantastic and she was nominated for an Oscar, but in the supporting actress category. Many of you, along with me, thought she was a lead role and deserved to be nominated in that category.

A few of you also voted for Leonardo DiCaprio, but for two different films. I received nominations for him in both "Inception" and "Shutter Island." For all of you Leo lovers out there don't fret, he will get the award one of these days. He's got two films coming up that will give him a good chance, "The Great Gatsby" and the biopic "J. Edgar."

My personal favorite nomination was for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the "Tooth Fairy." I'm not saying I agree with the choice, and he only got one nomination, but I loved this voter's explanation for it.

"Seriously, he managed to come across just right as a jerk, and a guy who cares," wrote this voter. "And, like with my next mention of best actress, you gotta be able to pull off some ridiculously written lines. Peeps disagree with me, but that's just how I see it." His pick for actress was Kristen Stewart in "Eclipse."

I love his courage and that he sticks to his guns.

Original score had several different nominations including, "Tron Legacy" and "Shutter Island," but the film that won almost doubled the votes for any other film.

Best screenplay was a fun category for me as well. You didn't stay mainstream and just voted for what you liked. A few films that got votes which were not nominated by the academy included "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1", "The Book of Eli" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." My personal opinion is that Pilgrim should have received a nomination for best adapted screenplay. Like the original score category, the films that won for both adapted and original ran away with it. Not really even a contest when it came down to it.

The director category I found really interesting. All of you pretty much stuck to the nominees from the Academy Awards but some that were way off the radar included Tom Six for "The Human Centipede" and Matthew Vaughn for "Kick-A**." But the interesting thing is that the director who won had more than double the votes than anyone else and he wasn't even nominated by the academy.

The best picture category included votes for "Tron", "Shutter Island", and [ "Alice in Wonderland."](http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/aliceinwonderland/) But on the flip side no one voted for best picture nominees [ "127 Hours"](http://www.foxsearchlight.com/127hours/), [ "Winter's Bone"](http://www.wintersbonemovie.com/) and [ "The Fighter."](http://www.thefightermovie.com/) The film that you choose for best picture won by just 6 votes and personally I think it was the right choice. Thanks for participating in the voting and I'm happy to know that Utahns have some good taste in movies and a bit of a sense of humor. The emails were great, even from those of you who got mad at me for ever having the audacity to question the "Academy." Yes, I even enjoyed those.
