(KSL News) Usually when a high school holds a five-, 10- or 20-year reunion, they reserve a hotel ballroom, or have a big picnic in a park.
But this weekend, Jordan High School in Sandy held its 100th class reunion, and it booked the South Towne Expo Center!
Jordan High School "Beetdiggers" young and old gathered this weekend for their much-anticipated 100-year reunion.
The two-day event kicked off yesterday with a program honoring Jordan High alumni and finished off Saturday night with food, music and memories.
Each of the graduating classes proudly displayed a booth, with a classic car and memorabilia representing their year. Many have beet-red blood running deep through their family lines.
Vivian Johnson White, of the class of 1944, said, "Our family lived out in Riverton. We had nine brothers and sisters, and we all lived out there. We all went to Jordan High School and graduated from there."
One hundred years have brought many changes to Jordan High, namely a new building. The old school was torn down in 1998 to make way for the Jordan Commons. Today, the 'Diggers hit the books at a new building on Beetdigger Boulevard in Sandy.
No matter what building these alumni called home or where they live now, one thing has stayed the same: Beetdigger pride.
Just don't ask them to remember the school song!
Organizers estimate that between 7,000 and 8,000 people showed up for the event.
