SALT LAKE CITY -— Two teenagers were charged with burglary and criminal mischief on Tuesday after police caught them breaking into Kearns High School last month.
Documents filed in 3rd District Court state that the two males, ages 18 and 16, were seen "walking from the school carrying multiple items in their hands" on Jan. 23. Police had been called to the school after an alarm went off, and after they caught up to the two teens, officers found 30 iPods, two laptop computers and keyboards valued over $1,500 on the ground next to broken doors at the school, the affidavit states.
The 18-year-old Kearns boy was charged with third-degree felony burglary and theft, failure to stop at the command of an officer and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. It is unknown what the 16-year-old's was charged with, as his information was not available.
