Washington (dpa) - The U.S. government has decided to suspend "Hi" magazine, an Arabic language publication distributed in the Middle East aimed at improving the image of the United States.
The U.S. State Department said Thursday publication was halted to conduct a review of it's effectiveness. "Hi" will continue to be provided online.
The State Department launched the magazine, which addresses subjects ranging from politics to pop culture, in July 2003. About 55,000 copies are distributed in 18 countries in the Middle East, the department said.
The purpose of the review is to develop quantitative data on how well "Hi" is reaching its intended audience as part of the State Department's public diplomacy programme.
