Andrew Adams, KSL NewsradioDo you have skeletons in your closet? Animal rights activists say presidential hopeful Mitt Romney does-a big one that's 24 years old.
PETA's complaining because Mitt Romney apparently stowed the family dog away in a carrier on the roof of a station wagon during a vacation in 1983. It's become such a big deal it's being satirized on YouTube.
"PETA was after me when I went quail hunting in Georgia and they're not happy that my dog likes fresh air," Romney says.
Romney says his dog was comfy. Family members tell the Boston Globe the Irish Setter did have diarrhea on the trip, which it shared on the rear window of the wagon. PETA insists that's a sign the pup was being tortured.
