SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An 18-year-old Ute tribal member accused in the drunken shooting death of his cousin two months ago has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
Toby James Ridley, of the Uintah Ouray Indian Reservation, admitted he was on a hunting trip with a group of people, including his cousin in October. He says they were driving around the reservation and drinking when he got into an argument with his cousin, 31-year-old Shawn Ridley.
Ridley says the fight escalated and he shot his cousin in the head.
His sentencing hearing is scheduled for March sixth.
