(KSL News) A new report shows Utah's economic prosperity hinges on our ability to help immigrants integrate. To do that, a growing number of Utah women are joining an effort to help immigrants learn English.
The Women's Philanthropic Network is armed with new research, half a million dollars and a commitment to removing the barriers of language.
Susan Smith, with the Women's Philanthropic Network, said, "Women want to know their change and their impact can make a difference in communities and in lives, and so we have taken our resources and put them behind the United Way of Salt Lake's English-learning opportunity."
The WPN and its 100 members hope to develop a strategic plan by fall, that will enable Utah's growing immigrant populations to become fluent in English.
