SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah's largest city followed a national trend showing reductions in violent and property crime reports.
According to the FBI's preliminary report of crimes reported in the first half of 2010, violent crime reports decreased nearly 7 percent from January through June in Salt Lake City. Property crime reports in the state capital fell about 6 percent.
Nationally, violent crimes dropped 6.2 percent and property crime decreased by 2.8 percent.
The number of robbery reports in Salt Lake City also fell about 15 percent, compared with a 10.7 percent decrease nationally.
Reports of vehicle thefts showed a 8.5 percent decrease in Salt Lake City, compared with a 10 percent decrease nationwide.
