SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A death row inmate is now a married man.

Convicted killer Troy Kell was wed around 4 p.m. Thursday. At the ceremony, there was the bride, the groom, two witnesses, a justice of the peace and the SWAT officers that escorted Kell in and out of his cell.

Stephen Gerhke of the Utah Corrections Department said, "This happened in a non-contact visitation booth. That's what we call it. There's a glass partition that separates the inmate from his fiancée, now bride, at all times. They were never allowed actual physical contact."

Gerhke can't release details about Kell's bride, like how long they've been dating or how they met. Kell doesn't have access to the Internet, so his main form of communication is writing letters.

He is on death row after being convicted of killing an inmate at the facility in Gunnison in 1994.
