SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake Community College has begun construction of a three-story, 136,000 square-foot building to ease crowding caused by recent enrollment growth.
College facilities chief Bob Askerlund told the Salt Lake Tribune the building on the Taylorsville campus should open by fall 2012.
It will include 43 classrooms, the humanities and social-science programs and faculty and administrative offices.
Plans also include a writing center, an integrated learning area with anthropology and history exhibits, and an interactive science resource center.
It's not the only new facility in the SLCC system. The South City campus is getting a Center for New Media.
