BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -- A 43-year-old Utah man has acknowledged supplying a large amount of cocaine to a former player for the Billings Outlaws indoor football team and others for distribution in Montana.
Fernando Soto, a former member of the defunct team, appeared in federal court Friday and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The Billings Gazette reports that sentencing is Feb. 10.
Prosecutors say Soto, of Midvale, Utah, supplied former Outlaws player Shon Flores and others in two separate conspiracies with cocaine that was distributed in Billings, Bozeman and Missoula. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Seykora says each conspiracy involved more than 5 kilos, or 11 pounds, of the drug.
Charges stemming from the second conspiracy will be dismissed as part of a plea deal.
Flores, the main local dealer, is serving more than six years in prison. The conspiracy has led to charges against at least 16 people, including seven former Outlaws players.
