SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A new poll shows Republican Mike Lee leading Democrat Sam Granato by 22 percentage points in the race to fill the Utah U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Bob Bennett.
The poll reported Sunday by the Deseret News found 53 percent of active voters favored Lee and 31 percent favored Granato. Eleven percent were undecided.
The survey of 600 active voters was conducted Oct. 11 to 13 by Dan Jones & Associates of Salt Lake City. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Utah is one of the nation's most conservative states and hasn't elected a Democratic U.S. senator since 1970.
