ALPINE -- A traffic stop in Alpine turned into a high-speed chase and ended in an arrest.
An officer with the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team (JCAT) tried to stop a pickup truck on I-15 around midnight Tuesday, but the driver sped off. Officers chased the truck up State Road 92 to the mouth of American Fork Canyon, where they performed a pit maneuver to stop it.
The truck spun out and blew two tires. The suspect got out and ran but didn't get far before a police dog tracked him down.
JCAT's Jason Randall said, "As soon as the suspect heard the bark of the dog he decided he didn't want to play anymore and he gave himself up."
Officers say the man had several warrants out for his arrest, including for a few drug charges.
