PROVO -- In the relatively new BYU tradition, Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall and his team invite a special guest to be honored as they watch the team's practice. This week's special guest is Brian Mecham.
Brian has had a disease that has affected him since he was thirteen, taking both kidneys. He had a kidney transplant three years ago, but it didn't work out very well and needs another kidney.
"Now we're waiting and hoping and praying for a new kidney," related Brian's wife.
As a gift for being BYU's special guest, every member of the team signed a flag similar to the one that the team brings out before each game. Brian also got to sign the team's flag as a way to be remembered each game.
"It's a once in a lifetime chance and a dream come true for Brian," said his wife.
