(File photo)KINGS PEAK -- A 26-year-old woman who went missing Saturday while trying to scale Kings Peak, the highest summit in Utah, was found just as crews were about to call off their search for the night.
The woman became separated from her group of four and was reported missing at 1:30 a.m. Sunday from the Henrys Fork campground. The campground is at the start of a multiple-day, 16-mile trek to the 13,528-foot peak.
The hiker was located in good condition with no medical attention needed. She was found near Milk Lake in Duchesne County by a helicopter assisting in the search. Her name has not been released.
Search and rescue units had been searching for the woman and were about to call off their efforts for the night around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Twenty Summit County rescuers, Duchesne County searchers on horseback and a Utah Highway Patrol helicopter were all assisting in the search, which was set to resume at 5 a.m. Monday.
Summit County sheriff's Detective Ron Bridge said they were concerned woman was unprepared to stay overnight in the area.
"There was nothing suspicious. They just simply lost track of each other," Bridge said.
