PROVIDENCE, Utah (AP) -- The city of Providence has become the latest community in northern Utah to ban the use of spice, a blend of herbs and chemicals that produces a marijuana-like high.
The Herald-Journal reports the city council voted to ban substance on Tuesday. Spice is a blend of herbs and spices sprayed with the active ingredient in marijuana. Users roll it up in joints or inhale it from pipes.
The drug has already been banned in Logan and Ogden, among other communities.
Cache County Attorney James Swink has pushed for the ban in that area. He says local doctors and law enforcement officials say smoking spice causes health problems and impairs driving abilities.
