Pornography addiction isn't a pleasant subject, but it is a societal scourge that demands more candid attention. It is why KSL and our sister companies under the umbrella of Deseret Management Corporation have launched an initiative called Out in the Light.

The goal is "to use our voice to educate, direct and unite women . . . who are victimized by a spouse's pornography addiction."

We learned in a recent series of reports in the Deseret News that 47- percent of families in the United States say pornography is a problem in their home. And we learned from a documentary on KSL Television that the problem isn't going away, but is getting alarmingly bigger by the day. Indeed, pornography has been described as the most heinous, harmful and destructive problem of our time.

The time has come, in KSL's view, to bring the subject out of the shadows. Though it can be uncomfortable to talk about, pornography use needs to be frankly discussed at home and beyond. A new website our company has created provides information and resources for the discussion. It is www.outinthelight.com. We encourage you to check it out.

KSL believes increased awareness - indeed, bringing the subject "out in the light" - is an important step toward reducing the tragic consequences of unbridled pornography addiction.
