OGDEN -- The Weber State Wildcats face the Aggies of UC Davis Saturday night in their homecoming game.

This will be a non-conference game, but as of the 2012 season UC Davis and Cal Poly will be leaving the Great West Conference to join the Big Sky for football only.

These two teams have only met once. In 2004 the Aggies came to Ogden and beat the Wildcats 31-29.

The Aggies are coming into this game 1-2, having lost their season-opener at California 52-3 and their second game to Portland State at home 41-44. Last week they got their first victory over the University of San Diego 38-24. Aggie running back Josh Reese rushed for 104 yards and had two touchdowns earning him the Great West Conference Player of the Week.

"They have a great tradition," said Weber State Head Coach Ron McBride. "Having played at San Jose State, then coached high school in the Bay area, I respect UC Davis. They always seem to have solid quarterbacks and a really stout defense. They are going to be a great addition to our Conference."

Much of that tradition can be credited to Head Coach Bob Biggs, who is in his 18th seasons with the Aggies. He has a record of 131-68-1 over those 18 seasons.

Weber State is looking to recover from last week's loss to Sacramento State 24-17. The Wildcats admittedly failed to get anything going.

"We didn't defend well, we didn't play well enough physically, we didn't move the line of scrimmage. That game was just ridiculous," said McBride.

Weber State will look to get its offense clicking; they are averaging 290 passing yards per game, and 430 total yards per game.

All eyes will be on Cameron Higgins who is in position to become the Big Sky's all-time leader in passing yards and in passing touchdowns. Higgins currently sits on 90 touchdowns and needs seven more to become the Big Sky leader. Higgins just needs a little over 2,000 yards to become the passing leader.

McBride knows how important this game is, and what preparations the Wildcats needed to make to be able play at their highest level.

"On Monday we went back to a lot of basics," said McBride. "We didn't do any of the little things last Saturday which you need to do to win.

"In this league, this season, you had better not overlook anybody. This will be a good game to challenge us to see where we are physically and mentally."

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
