FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- Davis County could be the newest place to ban smoking outdoors at public places.

The Davis County Board of Health is expected to meet next week to gather public input on the proposed smoking ban.

Under the ban there would be no smoking at golf courses, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, swimming pools or the Lagoon amusement park in Farmington.

Davis County Health Department Director Lewis Garrett says he expects the ban will pass by the end of this summer.

Last year, the Salt Lake City Council passed a similar ordinance joining several other communities in Utah adopting measures that prohibit smoking outdoors.

Logan also bans smoking at public parks and gathering places.
