SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- After nearly two years of price cuts, Utah state regulators have granted Questar Gas Co. permission to raise natural gas rates by 3.9 percent.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday that a rate increase approved by the state Public Service Commission will amount to about $2.15 per month for the typical customer.
Officials say the rate hike will have that customer paying about $59 a month for natural gas, compared with $63 a month in 2008.
Questar spokesman Chad Jones says the company isn't anticipating much of a change in natural gas prices this winter.
Utah residents typically pay some of the lowest natural gas prices in the country, with wells owned by Questar providing about half the supply.
