Frozen treats in the hot summer are very appealing, especially to the people of Utah. In fact, we love ice cream so much that we lead the nation in ice cream consumption.
Thanks to Shawna and Matt Willits, Utahns now have another option for dessert in the South Jordan Towne Center. The Willits recently opened Menchie's, a self-serve frozen yogurt store. Menchie's rotates 14 frozen yogurt flavors, like pomegranate tart, cookies n' cream and cake batter, and offers more than 60 rotating toppings, including fresh fruit, candies, nuts, granola and flavored syrups. Once customers finish filling their cups with yogurt and toppings, they pay for it by the ounce. Shawna says the concept is great because YOU can create your own perfect mix exactly the way YOU want it.
Vanilla, chocolate and original tart will be available every day while the other flavors rotate. All Menchie's yogurt is low-fat or nonfat and includes live and active cultures found in unfrozen yogurt. Nondairy, gluten-free, kosher, low-carb and no-sugar-added swirl options will also be available.
Shawna and Matt got the idea for their business while on vacation in California. They went to a Menchie's there and loved it so much that they drove across Los Angeles, through heavy traffic, to go back for more of the wonderful frozen yogurt. Realizing Utah doesn't have anything that matches Menchie's tasty product and family-friendly in-store experience, the Willits purchased a franchise and recently opened their store at 1665 W. Towne Center Drive. Both Shawna and Matt have backgrounds in running a business and they say the Menchie's franchise has offered fantastic support in operating the store and creating the ideal quality product and experience.
Shawna and Matt have worked hard to make their Menchie's store beautiful and to create an enjoyable atmosphere. They want customers to feel welcome and have a great experience each time they visit. Shawna's goal is for Menchie's to become a destination frozen yogurt store where friends and family can gather and have fun.
