CARDIFF, Wales, Oct 30, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- "Grease" has topped "Cats," "Les Miserables" and "West Side Story" in a Cardiff, Wales, Millennium Centre poll seeking Britain's favorite musical.
"Grease" a long-running Broadway musical -- was made into a hit movie in 1978 featuring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
Another musical that also launched hits on stage and screen, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," came in second in the voting by 2,431 British adults asked to name their favorite stage or screen musical, the BBC said Sunday.
No. 3 was "Phantom of the Opera," followed by "Les Mis" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" filling out the Top 5.
"West Side Story" came in at No. 6, "The Lion King" was No. 7, "Cats" clocked in at No. 8 and the Top 10 was rounded out by "Chicago" and "The Sound of Music."
